A serious crash involving four teenage girls, all under the legal driving age, shut down a street in Clark County for hours. Care Flight was called to the scene.
Crash Details and Location
The accident occurred on E Pitchin Road at around 3:30 p.m. The 14-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line, and went off the opposite side of the road. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the car struck a fence and continued into a tree line.
Witnesses and Reactions
Kevin Huff, who was at a lake near Pitchin Road when the crash occurred, expressed his sadness about the incident.
“It’s really sad,” said Huff.
He recalled that his brothers had asked him if he heard a loud skid mark and then a bang, bang. “I said ‘No.’ I didn’t hear anything,” Huff added.
Injuries and Rescue
All four occupants of the car were injured. Three sustained minor injuries, while one was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital by helicopter, according to OSHP.
Investigation and Safety Concerns
Troopers are still investigating the factors that contributed to the crash, but Huff mentioned that accidents in this area are unfortunately common.
“There’s a lot of unnecessary speed. A lot of accidents,” Huff said.
Investigators are working with the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office to determine the next steps in the case.
