Los Angeles, CA – March 27, 2025 – The family of a 22-year-old man killed in a hit-and-run crash in Koreatown is heartbroken and outraged that the driver fled the scene instead of stopping to help.
Incident Details
The fatal collision occurred around 6 a.m. on Thursday near the intersection of 6th Street and Catalina Street, according to officials. The victim was riding his skateboard when he was struck by a vehicle.
Surveillance Footage Shows the Crash
A nearby business captured surveillance footage showing a gray four-door sedan traveling westbound on Catalina Street before colliding with the skateboarder as he approached 6th Street. The impact was fatal.
However, the footage was grainy and did not provide investigators with any clear details about the driver. Authorities have not confirmed whether additional surveillance footage from other nearby businesses has offered a clearer view of the incident.
Police Search for Evidence
Authorities closed 6th Street between Berendo Street and Kenmore Avenue for more than two hours as they searched for evidence. A white canopy covered the victim’s remains, while a single shoe and broken skateboard pieces lay scattered at the scene.
The force of the impact was so severe that it left vehicle debris in the area, which investigators hope will help them track down the suspect.
Victim’s Identity Not Yet Released
The coroner has not yet released the victim’s name, pending family notification.
Family Pleads for Justice
Devastated family members gathered at the scene but chose not to speak to the press. They only expressed hope that the driver responsible for the hit-and-run will come forward and take responsibility.
Authorities continue to investigate the case and urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
